Learn about the introduction of multi-factor authentication (MFA) @ SIS
In recent years, the use of digital platforms in everyday school life has increased significantly. Sensitive data is also processed, such as personal information of students and teachers, performance data or internal communication content. This data must be specially protected.
School-managed devices:
All school-provided laptops and desktop computers are exempt from MFA — both at school and at home.
On these devices, login will continue to work as usual, without multi-factor authentication.
In order to better protect our school's digital systems, multi-factor authentication (MFA) will be introduced in the future
Personal and unmanaged devices:
For private devices or devices not managed by SIS (for example:
-
smartphones,
-
personal laptops or tablets,
-
BYOD devices),
MFA is required for security reasons when accessing SIS Microsoft 365 services.
Users who access SIS M365 apps on private or additional devices are therefore encouraged to prepare in advance for the upcoming introduction of Conditional Access.
We will, of course, inform you again in good time.
We strongly recommend installing the Authenticator app now as your authentication method.
If a user account is compromised in the future, we will reset the password as usual and activate MFA immediately to protect both the user account and the overall SIS IT infrastructure.
To do so, please follow the instructions and install Authenticator - registering your own device in advance.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep our digital environment secure.

Logging in with a username and password alone no longer provides sufficient protection in these days on those unmanaged devices. Passwords can fall into the wrong hands through phishing, malware, or data leaks. Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) increases security by requiring a second verification factor in addition to the password , for example a code via an app or a confirmation on the smartphone. Even if a password becomes known, access remains blocked for unauthorized persons.
By adopting MFA:
- significantly improves the protection of personal and school data ,
- prevent unauthorised access to school systems,
- the school meets current data protection and security requirements,
- promotes the responsible use of digital media.
Using MFA is easy and requires little extra effort when signing up. At the same time, it makes a significant contribution to the safety of everyone involved.
With the introduction of MFA, the school is taking an important step towards making the digital learning environment reliable and future-proof.
